Where is the West?

Recently I have been reading Nietzsche’s writings. It has been very powerful. He is truly an extremely powerful and individual thinker. I wonder what his personal life was like…. After reading writings like his, and some other great authors. It makes me wonder whether or not this age has anything else to say about the human experience. It seems that Western society is fairly unconcerned with that question. Why? It is because humans have found what we like in the materialism of the West. McWorld (Barber) if a phrase was to be captured. A society based on money where men/women can buy happiness, and as money is relative to hard work and contribution to the society, everything seems relatively fair. In fact, your author, largely agrees with this society. For I have never read of a society allowing such freedom of thought, freedom of choice, and objective transition between classes. Even with these thoughts, there is something deep within me, and I believe many other humans as well, that is terrified of this society continuing. As the destination is absolutely horrific. If society is completely based on money, the endgame must be slavery, yes? …. This broad of a statement can be shot down in an instant, humans have always been slaves to something. Most broadly, life. This is not a question of money. So what is this gut wrenching feeling? Truly, I believe it is the fear of becoming like an insect. A busy body with no real or meaningful emotions. Now here, there is no debate. Where do these emotions fit into our society. Happy humans are being mass produced just like the English have envisioned! And still so many, so many people in Western societies are on anti-depressants. They are unhappy! They have everything, right!? There is something that the West has left behind in order to gain this mass production. It is the connection that holds human life together on its deepest level, family. Is there any way back?
