I have recently realized why rhymes are an integral part of poetry. Rhymes signify the fatalistic element of life, the winds which blow our hearts and mind to each respective destination. There is, of course, much in life that we are not in control of. Much that we cannot see nor predict. Within this element, there is much beauty to be found. I wonder if that is why rhymes create such an emotional reaction in the human heart. It also allows the human mind to follow more easily and make connections it might have otherwise not made. I hope that rhyming in my poetry will help alleviate my much cryptic and aquiline way of thinking and mode of expression.
The infinite element of life must be given its due respect. It is an experience that we all share very deeply.
