There is no system that we can devise that does not depend on morale character and virtue. It seems to me that people in my country are overlooking this crucial aspect of humanity’s existence. We have either become so infatuated with our technical expertise that we have forgotten, or, we have ceased to hope for the morale development of our species. There is no rectification for the second belief. If our society rests our problem solving abilities on the premise of an exclusively technical solution, any outcome we manifest will inevitably fall short. The human race must learn to depend on each other’s ability and wherewithal to act in the interests of humanity from an objective standpoint. In fact, I foresee the societies of the future looking back on our civilization as one of barbarity and crudeness in comparison to the cooperation and connection they have managed to achieve. How long will we be able to depend on a “new system” to create solutions? Or am I simply not embracing the chaos that defines this human experience?

Where am I looking?
When the Wind Blows
When the wind blows
I can feel it rolling across my skin
I can feel it going somewhere although I don’t know where
It blows and blows until the sun no longer shines
I am standing outside looking upon the sky
So serene, so beautiful, so blue
The clouds roll by as the hours turn into days
Night falls and I fall asleep
What more can I ask for
Than for such a world as we have been given
For all the pain and suffering I see
There is a moment of wonder for each instance of darkness
The darkness creeps and lingers
Sneaking up on my fragile mind when I least expect it
When I am least prepared and able
It comes and goes the same as the wind
I feel deep into my soul
Deep into the recesses of my mind
Deep into the dark depths of my heart
And I find some small traces of light
Each one of us has a choice during the moments of dark
Shall we cease to look for the beauty?
Cease to look for the small moment of joy that is bestowed upon us
A gift and a curse this life is
It is nonetheless what we have
Either we find the beauty or let the dark grasp our hearts in its iron grip
The wind blows and blows
We can choose to follow it with a sense of wonder
Or feel anger and sadness at the purposelessness of it all
Where is the wind going
When will it rest
Our hearts are the same
Winds of mood, winds of emotion, winds of hope
East, west, north, and south
At times it rips me apart
At times I find the space in between each
A serene and calm place it is
And say thanks to each for its creation
I am thankful to be alive
I love myself
It is what I have found as the most basic aspect of my existence
I am a part of the world
And it is a part of me
The wind carries me as it would a leaf and I smile
For it may be that I am giving purpose to the wind
Or perhaps the wind is indifferent to my plight
Nonetheless, we are one in the same

Transgressions.
How can I make up for the multitude of transgressions I have wrought upon this world? It seems the fire of hope which existed and was created at my birth has been extinguished. What chance there was for me has become lost under a pile of rocks. Could it truly be possible for me to uncover this chance by lifting one rock at a time? The task seems so great. Or is it so that each and every one of us are lost souls living in a world of broken dreams? That every dream that has been realized was at one time broken and lost to the world? This optimism inside me seems so faint as I stare into the abyss of time and abstraction which makes up my past. In any case, my breath still draws and my blood still pumps. What choice do I have than to live as a lost and broken soul? None. The sun will rise and with it a new day. A day that may be different from the last. A day that enters into the realm of possibility anew. As if it was a newborne sitting on his mother’s breast, waiting to learn his first phrase, waiting to take his first steps, waiting to encounter his first challenge. This, my friends, is where I find courage in this world. Nothing is set in stone in this world except the past.
Spontaneity
A Poem for an Unknown Lover
Where the seas meet
Where the forest turns into plain
Where the winds change direction
Where the mountains fall away
These are the places I seek
These are the places where life is uncertain of its course
Where infinite power somehow seems undecided
Where spontaneity pours forth and changes what has been
The moment that change occurs is a mystery
It seems that the mountains will go on forever
That they are truly insurmountable and we must all cower
And in a single moment, those same mountains disappear
The same mountains which taxed my very mind turn to dust,
These symbols of eternity drop off and give way to coast or plain
This is the space in which I want to exist for you
In this beautiful chaotic energy of new beginnings
A space full of energy and life
And simultaneously, brimming with destruction and fate
Where spontaneity meets consistency,
an explosion seems to occur
An explosion of fate and new life

Masculinity.
Through my experience so far, I’ve found the societal view of masculinity to be either extremely mixed or unclear, perhaps ambiguous at best. It seems to me that after the bloodiest century in human history and also entry into unprecedented prosperity, American society and the West at large, has rejected whatever view or basis of masculinity it had held previously. As we proceed further into the third decade of the subsequent century, I see a growing need for a revival of masculinity. And an adoption of redefined masculine values in our Western societies. Perhaps I will write more on this topic in the future.
Spinning
Spinning
When the world revolves, the turning man turns
When the world revolves the still man turns
The difference is the still man is turned around
Whereas the turning man turns in turn
Change is required at every step of the way
As the path changes, so must my soul
In this world, there are moments of every shade, shape, and size imaginable
One cannot hope to witness them all
Instead, we must pray to appreciate the moments we have been given
This starts with a thankful heart, full of humility
A servant to the world and not its master
We must not urge the moment on but appreciate its beauty and the wisdom hidden within
We may try to run, hide, or squirm
Yet, this life does not take any moment lightly
As much as we’d like to we should not, because,
Within this universe there is a connection that unites all beings
Each moment must be trod with care
Else we become the still man being turned without our knowledge
Whereas, if we are able to give our souls in exchange for a single moment
We will find the soul to be an inexhaustible resource
I pray to live with humility,
Else I fall
Else I lose my way
And if that be so,
I will begin turning, and listening
As the Sufi Mystics do
And I will find myself harmonizing with that which is seeking me
A spinning man living in a spinning world

Admonishment.
Mistakes
An unadmonished sinner approaches a merciful priest and asks:
What can be done to reconcile the torments I’ve created?
The priest responds: Wait for the rain, and the anguish you are feeling,
Will wash away and return as rainfall another day
The priest continues: the pain you are bearing is part of you
Do not toss it aside like you would a piece of trash
In that way we find our world quickly filled with litter and rotting refuse, leaving excess for the rain’s might
Keep this pain close by, for it is precious and will serve you yet
Would you throw away your arm if it was wounded?
Would you throw away your mind if you made a decision that caused regret?
Would you throw away your heart for loving a hateful person?
Your soul is the same, you may damage it as you would the others
The pain you are feeling is not without origin
Your mind, body, and heart, have detached themselves from the machinations of your soul
Only through reconciliation of essence, may you prepare yourself for the rain
Be open to your soul, as it leads you back into the fold
Into the oneness of the infinite
Into love
Into that of which you have been afraid,
Into that which, through your absence, is causing you pain my friend,
Love is not the result of thought
And neither is forgiveness
Be patient my friend,
And be open.

Hmmmm.
Is it not true that all logic and perception comes from feelings of good and bad?
Where next?
I see no system that can be devised that will compensate or circumvent human immorality, irresponsibility, abuse, and neglect. So, where do peace and prosperity lie? Is there a basic testament of morality humankind can arrive to without the aid of the divine? It seems to me that our future depends greatly upon this question. And quite possibly, it will accompany the downfall of Western civilization as it stands today. For it does not seem that we will be able to answer this question in a way that will maintain the order of our current societal, economic, and political structures.
I hear the East calling me.
There is ancient wisdom in the East that must be rediscovered.
